Eucalyptus Strand Woven Flooring is…

Milano Toasted
Strand Woven Eucalyptus flooring looks like a fine tropical mahogany, but it boasts all the eco-friendly benefits of a quickly renewable hardwood. When you choose eucalyptus flooring, you’re not only making a great choice for your home, but you’re also making a great choice for the environment! The eucalyptus can re-grow in as little as 5 years but we harvest it at 14 years which is the optimum hardness and maturity. This allows us to control the dimensional stability so that the floors don’t experience problems during seasonal cycles.
- Eucalyptus is a Rapidly Renewable Tree
- Renewable, durable, and affordable
- Solid T&G for Glue-down & Nail-down
- Easy to Maintain
- As much as three times harder than oak
Differences Between Bamboo & Eucalyptus
Much like bamboo floors, eucalyptus strand woven floors are many times harder than traditional hardwood flooring. The main difference between the two is aesthetic – in eucalyptus flooring you see the knots of the eucalyptus tree (small round marks) whereas in bamboo you see the nodes of the bamboo culms. Other than that, there’s really no difference. Eucalyptus floors are maintained the same as bamboo and other traditional hardwoods.
Important Notice: Color Variations
Bamboo & Euclayptus flooring, as with any other natural wood flooring, will vary in color from production to production based on environmental conditions during growth, harvesting time and manufacturing conditions. Stained bamboo may also vary in shade between production runs. Please request a sample of current inventory prior to placing an order.

Going Green with Blue Forest™ Floors
Since 2005, respect for the environment and respect for our natural resources have been the guiding principles of Blue Forest™ Floors. Our bamboo is harvested from Forestry Stewardship Council certified well-managed forests, and we’re members of the US Green Building Council. And did you now, by installing eco bamboo flooring, you qualify for LEED credits?
We pack our products in FDA-approved organic cornstarch peanuts that decompose completely in water. We strive to use boxes and stretch wrap made of a percentage of post-industrial and recycled material. And all of our corrugated packing material is made of 100% recycled content. From the moment our eco friendly flooring is harvested to the moment it leaves the warehouse, Blue Forest™ Floors incorporates green practices into every aspect of business!
Why Bamboo?
Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth.
A sixty-foot bamboo cut for market takes 59 days to replace. It can be selectively harvested annually and regenerates without replanting.
Bamboo helps reduce carbon dioxide gases.
Some bamboo sequesters up to 12 tons of carbon dioxide per hectare, which makes it a highly efficient plant, and conducive to fresh air. It is known to produce greater biomass and 30% more oxygen than a hardwood forest of comparable size.
Bamboo is a natural water control barrier.
Because of its widespread root system and large canopy, bamboo greatly reduces rain run off, prevents massive soil erosion, and keeps twice as much water in a watershed.
Bamboo can restore degraded lands.
It is a pioneering plant and can be grown in soil damaged by overgrazing and poor agriculture. Proper harvesting does not kill the bamboo plant, so topsoil is held in place. Because of its dense litter on the forest floor, it feeds topsoil, restoring healthy agricultural lands for generations to come.
Eco-costs of shipping across the world: If you live on the West Coast and buy an Oak or Maple floor (which comes from the East), there is more embodied energy in that product than a bamboo floor made near the coast in China and shipped over the water. Ocean freight is simply that much more efficient. And this does not even take into account the fact that the tree cut on the East Coast will take 50 years to grow back whereas the bamboo tree cut in China will take only 5 years to grow back.
Family-Safe Products
Blue Forest™ Floors conducts annual tests using an independent American laboratory to ensure accurate technical statistics. VOC levels are well below E1- European standards which state that formaldehyde contents must be less than 0.10ppm.

VOC Levels
Formaldehyde is found in many products including furniture, automobiles, plastics, carpeting and most clothing. Extreme levels can cause health issues. We voluntarily lab test all of our products for formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to make sure they are safe for you and your family.
If you would like copies of our formaldehyde and VOC testing results, please contact us.
FSC
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an independent, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC Pure certification means that the highest social and environmental criteria are followed when harvesting bamboo.
USGBC
We are also members of the U.S. Green Building Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to sustainable building design and construction. USGBC developed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) building rating system to promote green building practices. All Blue Forest™ Floors flooring products contribute to LEED credits.
- CARB Phases 1 & 2 – The California Air Resources Board has set strict emissions and indoor air quality standards. Phase 1 went into effect in 2009, and Phase 2 will go into effect in 2011. Blue Forest™ Floors flooring qualifies under both Phase 1 and Phase 2 standards for extremely low formaldehyde levels (under 0.05 ppm for Phase 2) in our products.
- OSHA Air Quality Standards – Blue Forest™ Floors flooring also exceeds the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards regarding indoor air quality of less than 0.30 ppm of formaldehyde.
- E1 & E0 – Our bamboo flooring exceeds the European indoor air quality standards E1 and E0, with formaldehyde emissions of “effectively zero.”
- ISO 14001 – Our factory meets the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001 environmental management standards. This means we identify and control the environmental impact of our activities, products and services; we are committed to continually improving our environmental performance; and we have implemented a systematic approach to setting and achieving environmental objectives and targets.
